Five prayers a day. One community. Darul Uloom is where East Side families come to pray, raise their children in the deen, and stand beside each other in good times and hard ones.
In 2013, a small group from Saint Paul's growing Muslim community bought a 127-year-old building, the former Church of St. John and turned it into a masjid. Sheikh Xasan Buxane led that effort. What started as one congregation looking for somewhere to pray Jumu'ah has become a home for daily salah, Qur'an classes, and a generation of kids who've grown up learning their deen right here on the East Side.
At Darul Uloom Islamic Center in Saint Paul, Minnesota, we strive to be more than just a place of worship—we aim to be a source of guidance, education, and support for our community. Here’s how we serve:
Daily Prayers
Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha — the doors are open for all five, every day, and for Jumu'ah every Friday. New to the masjid or coming back after years away? You're welcome at the back row or the front.
Kids start with the alphabet. Adults come back to recitation they never finished learning as children. Some students are working through hifz. Our instructors meet each student where they are — tajweed, recitation, memorization, tafsir.
Fiqh, seerah, aqeedah, and the everyday questions that come with living as a Muslim in Minnesota. Classes are open to anyone, whether you grew up with this knowledge or you're building it from scratch.
Being a young Muslim in America comes with real pressures from school, friendships, social media, figuring out where you belong. Our youth programs give kids and teens mentors who get it, friends who share their faith, and a reason to see the masjid as theirs too.
When a family loses someone, this community shows up. The Funeral Fund helps cover janazah and burial costs so grief doesn't have to come with a financial burden on top of it.
Every dollar given here stays here. It keeps the lights on, keeps bathrooms and Wudu areas clean and fuctional. Give however works for you: CashApp, Zelle, card, or cash at the masjid.
